It's Mitch in the 13th! With expectations of a low voter turnout, it's more important than ever for every aware SILVER LAKER to turn out for the Los Angeles City Election on May 21st and cast their vote for Mitch O'Farrell for the seat being vacated by Eric Garcetti. Mitch's 20-year record as a neighborhood activist and resident of the district compared to his opponent who just moved into the district in 2012 is the clear choice of local leaders and everyday stakeholders who take an active interest in the community. To learn more about Mitch and why The Silver Lake News supports his candidacy, please review our endorsement in the SILVER LAKE AREA NEWS page and in "Who's Who in Silver Lake". Mitch is pictured with Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge (who has endorsed him) and recently retired LAPD Senior Lead Officer Al Polehonki.

The Los Angeles City Municipal Run-Off Election is just around the corner! The Silver Lake News encourages our civic-minded community to lead the way and get out the vote on Tuesday May 21st! With important considerations on the ballot with respect to campaign financing and marijuana regulation your participation will count more than ever in the course our city and community takes in the near future. While each of us may hold strong opinions on who is best able to lead the city, you hold the power to determine the outcome. When all is said and done, let's show our support for the process and turn out in force on May 21st!

While running the risk of alienating some of our readers who might favor the opposition, we feel that it is more important to stand up and make our voices heard in the upcoming Los Angeles City Mayoral Election. While Los Angeles is fortunate to have two excellent candidates in the run-off election, we encourage the election of "favorite son", Eric Garcetti as the clear choice to succeed Antonio Villaraigosa as Los Angeles' next mayor. Please consider my editorial in the SILVER LAKE AREA NEWS page. Eric Garcetti is pictured with former aide Mitch O'Farrell who is in the run-off to succeed him as councilmember in District 13.
